Each year the NYSTDC presents the Schwadron Award to recognize the accomplishments of an individual who is outstanding in the field of training and human resources development for NYS government.

This award is named in memory of Maurice Schwadron who devoted his career in State service to promoting the field of training and development. He was part of a core group which began the Training Council in 1969.

Mr. Schwadron is remembered as a person who exhibited a warm, humorous approach to people and problems, put the needs and priorities of others ahead of his own, and had a deep sense of professional dedication.

Following the formal nomination and review period, the Schwadron Award recipient is announced and honored at the NYSTDC's Annual Conference. In addition, the recipient's name is inscribed on a permanent plaque located at the Office of Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities at 44 Holland Avenue.
